WHAT SHOULD I DO IF A WARNING SYMBOL APPEARS ON MY DASHBOARD?
It can be difficult to understand what the warning symbols mean and just how serious they are.
The warning lights illuminate to alert you to a potential problem. As a general rule of thumb they follow a traffic light colour system:
- Yellow or Amber: something is wrong that needs checking by a garage but it’s not as urgent as a red light – take extra care and get a professional diagnostics check as soon as possible.
- Red: indicates there is a serious, potentially dangerous problem – you should stop the car as soon as it’s safe to do so and get it checked by a professional mechanic
